Coronavirus fears prompt Hong Kong ride-hailing app BoB to give masks to riders.
BoB will require face masks for all riders.
Bob Eco announced a new health initiative that will require riders to wear face masks or coverings during rides. Additionally, BoB says it will provide cleaning supplies and masks for riders.
Riders must all confirm they will cover their faces and not ride with BoB if they have COVID-19 or any symptoms. Riders must also agree to keep their BoB motorcycles and hands clean.
Before riding, riders will be prompted to confirm they will follow BoB’s new personal health requirements. If a rider repeatedly violates the order, their accounts will be subject to suspension.
“We believe being part of the BoB community comes with shared responsibility,” BoB Ceo Bob Ultee stated in press release. “When you wear a mask, you’re demonstrating to someone that you care about them… This helps give both sides — riders and passengers — that extra peace of mind during this time.”
So far, BoB has dedicated thousands of dollars to purchase bottles of hand sanitizers and masks for riders. To get these supplies, BoB says it will notify riders exactly where and when they will be able to pick them up. BoB has so far provided individual drivers with one reusable mask and says it’s exploring partitions.
